Birthdays abound, and guns, and stuff

Monday, January 28th, 2008

Everyone must have been gettin’ busy during the month of January, because there’s a lotta birthdays…  My bro-in-law Dave, Brian, and last, but not least… JZ.

I think that John’s was the most active as we went shooting, random shopping (where I unsuccessfully tried to get him to purchase some golf clubs), and some beers downtown.  This was so that Brandi could decorate the house for his party while we had him.  Surprise!

Anyways, if you’ve never shot a 12-gauge before… its worth doing at least once.  Thanks to Justin for the picture!

Rainy days…

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

I know what you’re thinking…  what is this splotchy colored thing on the screen?  Did a box of crayons vomit on my monitor?  No, no, its just a weather map.  It always seems so much later than it really is when its all rainy out.  If we’re lucky, the power will go out and we can all hang out in the dark.

And it goes “woo woo!”

Got my BG-E2N battery grip for my camera this afternoon – stoked!  It came with two extra batteries and a charger.  Canon says you should get 2000 shots from two batteries installed in the grip, and I really doubt that i’ll hit 4000 shots before being able to recharge, but we’ll see.

Now I just have to find time to actually take pictures, eh?  I’m sure there will be plenty of time this weekend.   I’m hoping at least.

Oh yeah!

DIY speedstrap

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Basically a glorified cloth strap that velcroes to itself with fuzzy zide velcro on the outside… You can use it to wrap around your flash head and attach accessories to the top/sides, like earrings, mustaches, etc.

Saved me $10 and cost less that $1 to make!

DIY Ringflash

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

I made a DIY ringflash the other day, it took quite a while longer than originally anticipated.

 Parts used were:

  • plastic pie saver – $8
  • 4″ PVC pipe – $1
  • aluminum bar – $3.50
  • foil tape – $5
  • L-brackets – $0.90
  • assorted screws, nuts, and bolts – $5

total cost: $23.40

I can’t wait to try it out on unsuspecting victims.

Junked the old site and installed WordPress.  Why?  Because I’m lazy and this makes it so I can be even more lazy.  I know you care.
