An interesting end to the Memorial Day Weekend

Jen's thumb

So the weekend was pretty nice until the end…  Gene came down from Sacramento on Friday to visit and see the house, my parents came down as well on Saturday.  We went wine tasting, out to Hofbrau in Morro Bay, etc.  And then as the weekend was winding down, there was a little kitchen accident.

Jen was using a mandolin to slice some butternut squash and was unfortunate enough to get part of her thumb as well.  The slice went in from the tip of the thumb and cut down the left side through about 2/3 of her thumbnail clean through.  Luckily the blade was super sharp and the cut was clean.  After about three hours in the Emergency Room at Twin Cities, Jen was graced with 7 stitches and a bunch of gauze.

Hopefully it heals quickly, I can’t imagine the pain that Jen must  be experiencing right now.

Pro Men's Swim to Bike Transition

Just got back from Wildflower – it was a busy, but fun weekend!  Since last year, i’ve been shooting pics for Tri-California Events, Inc. (the company that puts on the event) and its a ton of fun.  And I get a Media pass!  It definitely helps having worked on the Wildflower Committee for so many years, I already know where the good spots are to take pics from - although I didn’t hike out to a couple of the better, more remote areas.

Got to the lake and on race morning, went to start up the motorcycle to go out on the course and the battery was completely dead.  Lot of walking/hiking done on Saturday… I suppose I need my exercise.

So Sunday, I rode on the back of a Harley driven by a very cool guy (James) and spent the day (Sunday) cruising the course and shooting pics.  Much more fun than walking everywhere.
