Google Chrome Beta

Google Chrome

The Google Chrome Beta released today, its an open source browser written by Google that has a lot of cool features, like Dynamic Tabs, Crash Control, Safe Browsing, etc.  you can learn more here (streaming videos) or read the cartoon version explaining the new features.

One of the most interesting features that I see is that each tab has its own thread, so crashes, data, anything that happens is contained within that tab.  Because of this, if any web application being used crashes, only that specific tab crashes, instead of the entire browser.  Pretty innovative.

In addition, as far as I know the Google browser doesn’t suffer from the same issue as Internet Explorer (haven’t tried in Firefox) where with many tabs open in the browser (and the browser minimized for an extended period of time) restoring the browser to open requires a wait time for all the pages to load in the browser.

There are other features that i’ve yet had a chance to play with, but as far as I can tell, this is the most stable initial release of any Beta software that I have played with.

So far, I really like the simple, yet feature-full browser.  I’ve now switched over to this as my main browser of choice.
